In celebration of SpongeBob SquarePants' 25th anniversary, Nickelodeon launched the "Act Like a Sponge" campaign, featuring the "Kelpline" commercials. These ads creatively blended SpongeBob's signature humor with environmental advocacy, encouraging viewers to emulate the absorbent qualities of a sponge by actively participating in ocean conservation efforts. The campaign highlighted Nickelodeon's commitment to removing 5 million pounds of plastic and debris from waterways by 2027, with over 1.5 million pounds already collected. Through partnerships with aquariums and organizations like Ocean Conservancy, the "Kelpline" commercials served as a call to action, inspiring families to engage in beach cleanups and other eco-friendly initiatives.
